3rd Grade

You are a team of workers at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Your responsibility is to load an airplane with cargo and people allowing it to take off, glide, and land without crashing or performing any tricks. We will test with paper airplanes and coin weights. We will discuss the jobs of the workers at the airport, as well. We hope to get a pilot or flight attendant to come talk to us about balancing the aircraft.  We will then complete some flight simulations to make sure we understand the needed forces for flight. We will simulate the flight of the plane as it took off and use our mapping skills to determine where the airplane should land. Once we successfully land in the river we will test out a “life raft” and discuss how to load/unload the raft in order to balance it and keep it from flipping.
